What is Smile Drive.

The Pre-Dental Society is collecting new and unopened toothbrushes (no electric or disposable kinds), toothpaste, floss, and other oral healthcare products as well as monetary donations to benefit children in the community of Valle De La Trinidad, Mexico.

A Tangible Need.

Valle De La Trinidad, Mexico is a small community in Baja, California. "In the Spring of 2016, Paola Sauza, current Community Service Representative and then Historian of the Pre-Dental Society, organized a non-club related dental mission trip with her parents, Dr. Samuel Sauza, DDS and Dr. Sandra Sauza, DDS, Yachana Patel, PDS Secretary, and me. A free dental clinic was held for the community and around 40 patients were seen in the 5 hours that we had there. The need for oral health care products and especially the need for oral health education was what stuck out to me the most during our short time there."

The Solution.
By gathering donated oral health items, using monetary contributions to purchase these items, and by personally bringing these items to Valle De La Trinidad; the Pre-Dental Society aims to raise awareness of a need, provide an initial response to that need, and evaluate how a sustainable solution can be formed.
